A weekly show is a track's regular points program run on the same night most weeks of the season — hot laps, heats, consis and features for the track's house divisions — and it is where track championships are won.
The skeleton is the same everywhere: hot laps, heats, a consi, then features. World of Outlaws describes hot laps as group sessions of three or more laps and heats of 8 to 12 laps; a weekly show runs a compressed version for the house divisions. The rulebook shapes the season around it. IMCA lets a track hold one draw/redraw program for every four weekly track points events scheduled, suspends the claim rule for the first two track point nights, and bans double features except rainout make-ups. The weekly show is what a championship is made of: 40 points for an A-feature win down to 17 for 24th, four completed programs before a track can crown a champion, and 50% attendance for the track point fund. Slinger’s bar is 80%.
The weekly show is the cheapest racing you will do all year and the only place a track championship is decided, so every special you chase has to be worth more than the weekly night it costs you.
