Shape matters more than the top number — Performance Racing Industry reported Paragon Speedway’s $500-to-win, $100-to-start show, which guaranteed every car a feature, filled its pits while nearby tracks bumped to $800 to $1,000 to win. Some places pay only if you make the feature; others pay deep into the field and less up front.
The to-win number sells the flyer, but what you actually take home depends on how deep the purse pays, and a mid-pack run at a top-heavy special can cost more in fuel than the check covers.
