Account

My Profile

Where in the app: Side menu, My Profile

My Profile holds your photo, your name, how we reach you and the emails you get. Your email address itself is fixed.

Open it

  • Side menu, then My Profile.
  • Or tap the round photo at the top right of the Dashboard. Its tooltip reads "Your Profile".

The title bar reads "Profile of" followed by your name.

Your photo

  1. Tap Upload Profile Photo.
  2. The dialog Add a Profile Photo asks "Do you want to use the Camera or select a Photo from your Gallery".
  3. Tap use Camera or use Gallery and pick the picture.

The photo uploads straight away and the circle refreshes. A thin line under the title bar shows while it uploads.

Tapping outside the dialog does not cancel it. It opens your gallery. Back out of the picker instead.
On iPhone and iPad the app asks for camera and photo access the first time. The prompt explains the photos are used for your race cars and your profile picture.

The email bar

At the top of the form is a bar showing where your email address stands.

  • Verified accounts see a green envelope and "Email verified".
  • Unverified accounts see a red envelope, "Verify email in your inbox" and a Send Again button. The app confirms with "Email sent".

Verification unlocks My Subscriptions and Refer Friends. Pull down to refresh after you tap the link in the email.

The fields

FieldNotes
EmailRead only. Your email is your sign-in name and cannot be changed in the app.
NameRequired. An empty name shows "Enter a Name".
PhoneOptional, up to 30 characters.
Time zoneNew York, Chicago, Denver or Los Angeles.
Monday Morning Recap EmailsOn by default. Turn it off to stop the weekly email.

Tap Update to save. The app confirms with "Profile updated".

Unsaved edits are lost whenever the app reloads your account, which happens on pull to refresh and every time you bring the app back to the front. Save as you go.

Change your password

  1. Tap Change My Password.
  2. Type the new password in the Change Password dialog. It must be at least 6 characters.
  3. Tap Submit.

The app confirms with "Password updated". A failure reads "Error, Password NOT updated". There is no cancel button, so tap outside the dialog to close it.

You do not need your old password here. Use Forgot Password? on the sign-in screen if you cannot get in at all.

Your promo code

If your account carries a promo code, it appears under the buttons as "Your Promo Code:" followed by the code, and, if your promo comes from a sponsor, their logo underneath. The code is set by RaceYear and cannot be edited.

Subscriptions and purchases

Where in the app: Side menu, My Subscriptions

My Subscriptions shows what you are on now and what you can buy. Buying is handled by the App Store or Google Play.

Before you can buy

Your email address must be verified. Until then the page shows "To continue, you need to verify your email" with a Send Again button. Tap the link in the email and the page re-checks every 20 seconds and swaps to the real contents, or straight away if you pull down to refresh.

What is on the page

  • The title reads Start Free or Go Pro while a trial is on offer, and My Team Subscriptions otherwise.
  • RacePrep Trials & Subscriptions lists what you hold today. This block only appears when no free trial is on offer. With a trial available the page shows the line "Start a trial or jump right in with a subscription." above the plans instead. Each line shows the plan and whether it is a Monthly plan, a Yearly plan or a Free Trial. Paid plans also show the price and "Renews" with the date. Free trial lines show neither. A badge sits over the middle of the second line and reads ACTIVE, PENDING, CANCELLED, Expired, or the days left on a trial.
  • With nothing active the block reads "You have no active subscriptions."
  • Under that come the plans you can buy, on tabs: Free Trial when one is offered, Yearly (save 30%) and Monthly.
  • Restore Purchases sits at the bottom.

Buy a plan

  1. Pick the Yearly (save 30%) or Monthly tab.
  2. Read the plan card. It shows the price per year or per month and what that works out to the other way.
  3. Tap the buy button on the card.
  4. Complete the App Store or Google Play sheet.
  5. The first time you subscribe, the dialog Welcome to your Full Subscription! appears. Tap View Dashboard.

The app then opens Manage Race Cars so you can set your car up.

Start a trial instead

On the Free Trial tab, tap Start a free trial. The dialog Your 30-Day Free Trial Starts Now! appears and you tap Start My Trial.

Restore a purchase

Tap Restore Purchases. Use this on a new phone, or after reinstalling, when a subscription you paid for is not showing.

When something is wrong

  • "There is no store available." means the app cannot reach the store on this device. It always shows on the web version.
  • "This plan is not available at this moment." with a line pointing at CrewChief@raceprep.app means that plan is not sold in your region. Tap the address to email us.
A purchase that the store accepts but the server rejects stops with no message. If your subscription does not appear, pull down to refresh, then tap Restore Purchases, and contact us if it is still missing.
Cancel or change a subscription in your App Store or Google Play account. There is no cancel button in RacePrep.

Refer friends

Where in the app: Side menu, Refer Friends

Refer Friends holds your invite code and the list of racers who have used it.

What you get

The page states the rewards the app offers:

  • $10 Amazon gift card for you "whenever your friends subscribe to a Team Plan for more than 2 months."
  • $5 Amazon gift card for your friend "when they subscribe to a Team Plan for more than 2 months using your code."
  • Read the FAQ opens the RacePrep referral questions in your browser.

Share your code

  1. Read the preview under "Send your code via text or social media". It holds the message, your invite code and the download link.
  2. Tap Copy Invite Text.
  3. Paste it into a text message or a post.
Nothing on screen confirms the copy. Paste it somewhere to check it worked.

Your friend enters the code in the Invite code box when they register.

My Invited Friends

Everyone who used your code is listed with a badge:

BadgeMeaning
REGISTEREDThey created an account with your code.
WAIT RENEWALThey subscribed and the qualifying period is still running.
ELIGIBLEThe reward has been earned.
REWARDEDThe gift card has been sent.

The list shows nothing at all while no one has used your code yet.

This page needs a verified email address. Until then it shows the verify-email panel.

Sign out, delete your account and get help

Where in the app: Side menu

Everything for leaving, getting help and reading up sits at the bottom of the side menu.

Sign out

Open the side menu and tap Sign Out. There is no confirmation and you land on the welcome screen. Your data stays on the server, so signing back in brings it all back.

Delete your account

  1. Open My Profile.
  2. Tap Delete my account, the red button under Change My Password.
  3. Your browser opens the RaceYear account deletion page. Follow the steps there.
Deleting is requested on the web page, not in the app. The app does not sign you out and shows nothing about a request in progress.

Get help

Side menu entryWhat it opens
User GuideThis guide, inside the app.
Tutorial VideoThe RacePrep playlist on YouTube.
Help and Freedback [sic]The RacePrep help page, opened in the app under the title "Help and Support".
  • The in-app pages have back, forward and reload buttons in the title bar. Leave them through the side menu or the bottom bar.
  • Tutorial Video hands you to YouTube and leaves the side menu open behind it.
  • The support address is CrewChief@raceprep.app.

Other RaceYear apps

The side menu carries a panel for RaceTrips, under the heading Other Apps by RaceYear, with the line "Save money on your taxes!". Download opens the store on your phone.

The version line at the bottom of the side menu, for example "Version v2.0.08 - Production", is worth quoting when you contact us.

Fixing problems

Account and sign-in

  • "Login failed" with a reason from the server. The email or password was rejected. Check the spelling and the capitals in your email, tap the eye icon to read the password back, and try Forgot Password? if you are still stuck.
  • "Login failed" with "Error logging in". The server could not be reached, or it rejected the sign-in without giving a reason. Check your connection and try again in a minute.
  • "Registration failed" with a reason. Most often the address already has an account. If the dialog button reads Login with email, tap it and sign in instead. The invite code is optional, so clear it if you are not sure it is right.
  • Red text under a field. "Please enter your Name", "Please Enter a valid Email address", "Please Enter Password", "Minimum password length is 6" or "You need to accept the terms". Fill the field in or tick the box and press the button again.
  • "Password reset has been sent" means the email is on its way, so check your spam folder. "Password reset failed" usually means the address has no RacePrep account.
  • "Google Sign In failed" or "Apple Sign In failed". The sign-in itself worked but RacePrep could not finish it. Try again, and if it keeps happening use email sign-in and contact us.
  • "Not Available" with "Sign in with Apple is not available on this device." Apple sign-in is not set up on this device. Use Google or email.
  • The app opens with no team and no cars, and the side menu shows an error where the team picker should be. Your saved sign-in is no longer valid. Open the side menu and tap Sign Out, then sign in again.
  • "To continue, you need to verify your email" on My Subscriptions or Refer Friends. Tap Send Again, open the link in the email, then pull down to refresh.
  • "Enter a Name" when saving your profile. The name field cannot be empty.
  • "Error, Password NOT updated". The new password did not reach the server. Check your connection and try again. "Password updated" confirms success.
  • Profile edits vanish. The app reloads your account when it comes back to the front and when you pull to refresh, and that replaces anything unsaved. Tap Update before you leave the screen.

Demo mode, the trial and subscriptions

  • "You are in DEMO MODE" on the dashboard. You are on the sample team. Tap the banner, or use Get free Trial at the top of the side menu, to start your own team.
  • Side menu items are greyed out. Manage My Race Team and My Subscriptions are disabled on the demo team and do nothing when tapped. Start a trial or buy a subscription first.
  • "Subscription Required" covering the dashboard. The trial or the subscription has ended. Your data is safe. Tap Buy Subscription. The parts library, race history and car management stay open.
  • "There is no store available." on the Yearly or Monthly tab. The app cannot reach the App Store or Google Play. It always shows in the web version. Use the phone app, check you are signed into the store, and try again.
  • "This plan is not available at this moment." with "Please contact CrewChief@raceprep.app to check availability in your region." That plan is not sold in your store. Tap the address to email us.
  • A purchase went through but nothing changed. The app shows no message when the server refuses a purchase. Pull down to refresh, then tap Restore Purchases. Contact us with your store receipt if it is still missing.
  • The trial started but the app went to the wrong screen. After a trial the app opens Manage Race Cars and then the dashboard. Both are correct, so carry on from either.
