The bottom bar

A red pill on a tab is a count sent by your account for the car you are on. It clears as you work through the list behind it.
Dashboard cards

Title bar buttons

Subscription words

| DEMO MODE | You are on the sample team. The data resets and is not yours to keep. |
| TRIAL VERSION | Your own team on a free trial. |
| ENDED | The trial has finished. Buy a subscription to carry on. |
| ACTIVE | A paid subscription in good standing. |
| PENDING | The store has taken the purchase and it is not confirmed yet. |
| CANCELLED | The subscription has expired or was cancelled. |
| Subscription Required | The dashboard, inspection, task list and shopping list are locked. Your data is safe. |
Referral words

Messages in the app
Every dialog, message bar and validation message RacePrep can show, with where it appears and what to do. Values that change are shown in square brackets.

Platform notes and limits
iPhone and Android
- Sign-in buttons. Sign in with Google appears everywhere. Sign in with Apple appears on iPhone, iPad and Mac only. Email sign-in is behind Other login methods on every platform.
- Purchases go through the App Store on Apple devices and Google Play on Android. Prices and plan names come from your account. The App Store or Google Play handles the payment itself. The web version cannot sell anything and shows "There is no store available."
- Camera and photos. The app asks for access the first time you add a photo. The prompts explain that the photos are used for your race cars and your profile picture. Nothing else in the app asks for a permission.
- No notifications. RacePrep sends no push notifications and asks for no notification permission. The red badges on the bottom bar are the only alert, and the Monday Morning Recap Emails switch on My Profile is the only regular message. The app also emails you when you ask it to verify your address or reset your password.
- Photos are uploaded at full size, so a slow connection can make an upload take a while. Watch the thin line under the title bar.
- The camera opens front-facing by default on every photo screen. Flip it to the rear camera before you shoot a car.
- Theme. RacePrep opens in the dark theme. The brightness button at the bottom of the side menu switches to light and remembers your choice. Your phone's own light or dark setting is not used.
- Text size. The app follows your phone's text size setting only up to a few percent above normal. Very large system text does not make RacePrep's text much bigger.
- Web. A browser build exists but is limited. It cannot buy anything, and the help pages open in a new browser tab instead of inside the app.
What needs a connection
RacePrep reads and writes everything on the server, and nothing is stored on the phone for offline use.
- With no connection a pill reading "No internet connection" and "Please check your network and try again." sits at the bottom of the screen.
- A request that fails on the connection also raises No Internet Connection Available with a single OK.
- Nothing is queued or retried. Pull down to refresh once you are back on a connection, and make the change again.

- Time zones offered are New York, Chicago, Denver and Los Angeles.
- A car counts in one unit, which is set on the car. Cloning a car's setup only offers cars that count in the same unit.
- Only the team owner sees Add a New Race Car and can edit the crew. Crew members see a message naming the owner.

Connection and syncing
- "No internet connection" with "Please check your network and try again." at the bottom of the screen. You are offline. Nothing will save until the connection returns.
- "No Internet Connection Available" with "Could not process your request. Please check your internet connection and try again when it is available again." A request failed on the connection. Tap OK, then pull down to refresh once you are back online.
- "Unauthorized", "Forbidden", "Internal server error", "Bad gateway" or "Something went wrong (code ...)" in place of a list. The server refused or failed. Pull down to refresh, and sign out and back in if it keeps happening.
- "Connection timeout with API server" or "Receive timeout in connection with API server". The server did not answer in time. Try again on a better connection.
- Nothing is retried on its own. RacePrep has no offline queue. Pull down to refresh and make the change again.
The app and your device
- Text is not getting bigger. The app caps how far its text follows your phone's text size setting.
- The app is dark and you want it light. Tap the brightness button at the bottom of the side menu.
- The camera opens facing you. All photo screens start on the front camera. Flip it before you shoot.
- "Invalid File Type" with "Please select an image, not a video." when adding a garage photo. Pick a JPG or PNG picture.
- A progress line stays on screen. A failed save can leave it running. Leave the screen and come back.
- A help page shows an empty progress bar across the top. It is cosmetic and the page below it is fine.
- "Browserwindow only available on iOS or Android" [sic]. You are using the web version. Open the help page in your browser instead.
- "Not available" with "In the web environment there is no app store". Downloads and purchases need the phone app.

Short answers to what racers ask most.
Do my crew members have to pay?
No. The team owner holds the subscription. Anyone the owner invites uses RacePrep for free.
What is the demo team?
A sample team with sample cars so you can look around before you commit. Its data resets, so treat it as a sandbox rather than a place to store real work.
How do I get my own team?
Tap Get free Trial at the top of the side menu, or tap the DEMO MODE banner on the Dashboard. Either opens the subscriptions screen, where you tap Start a free trial or buy a plan. My Subscriptions in the side menu is greyed out while you are on the demo team. Both create a team of your own and take you to Manage Race Cars.
Where do I set what the app tracks on my car?
On the Dashboard, tap the gear. Switch on the items your account suggests, or tap Create Custom Dashboard Card to write your own.
What is the difference between the two thresholds?
The Maintenance Threshold is when the item is due. It turns the bar red and moves the job to Action Now. The Notification Threshold is the earlier warning. It turns the bar orange and moves the job to To Do Soon.
How do I record a race night?
Open the Dashboard and tap Update All Laps. The button uses whatever unit the car is set to, so it may read Hours, Miles or Km. Enter the laps, the race date and the track or series, then tap the button at the bottom. The laps are added to every card on that car.
Can I log laps for two cars at once?
No. Laps go on the car you are looking at. Switch cars on the dashboard and log the second car separately.
Can I undo laps I entered twice?
Not as a history entry. Open the card, type the correct total in the large box and save. The history keeps both lines but the count is right.
What happens when I service a part?
Open its card, tap Reset to Zero, confirm, then save with the orange check. The count starts again from zero and the card turns green.
What is the garage for?
Parts you are not running. Move a card to the garage and it keeps its count off the car. Move it back to a car later and the history comes with it.
Why can I not add laps on the garage?
The garage is storage, not a car. It has no Update All button.
Who can tick off an inspection item?
Anyone on the team. Their photo appears on the row so you can see who did it.
When does the weekly checklist reset?
When someone resets it. Tap the circular arrow in the title bar on the Inspection tab, then Reset tasks. Logging laps with Reset Weekly Checklist ticked also clears it.
How do items get onto the shopping list?
Three ways. Search for or add an item on the Shopping tab, tap Add on a row in Parts, or attach parts to an inspection item.
Why can I not delete a job from the Task List?
Jobs cannot be deleted in the app. Tick the job and clear it with the broom instead.
Do I need to be online?
Yes. RacePrep reads and writes everything on the server. Offline you get a "No internet connection" bar and changes will not save.
How do I change my email address?
You cannot in the app. The email field on My Profile is read only because it is your sign-in name. Contact us if it has to change.
How do I stop the Monday email?
Turn off Monday Morning Recap Emails on My Profile and tap Update.
How do I cancel a subscription?
In your App Store or Google Play account. RacePrep has no cancel button, and cancelling in the store stops the renewal.
How do I delete my account?
Open My Profile and tap Delete my account. That opens the RaceYear deletion page in your browser, where you make the request.
